John Colvin

John Colvin – A Chartered Electrical Engineer who holds an Honours Degree from Oxford. A highly experienced manager and signal engineer with over 40 years’ experience in the Signal Installation and Maintenance fields a majority of which were spent at senior management level in LU. John was promoted very quickly within LUL culminating in him being appointed General Manager Signal & Electrical Contractors in 1987 responsible for all signal installation and maintenance, communications, lighting, cabling and ticketing systems. In this position John was accountable for a budget in excess of £50m pa with 1,700 staff. Notable achievements in this role include, Installation of the first transmission based signalling system in the UK for the Docklands Light Railway, Negotiation and profitable execution of major resignalling and communications projects in the UK and Australia with a typical value of £5m plus and Increasing productivity of in-house workforce by 23% over a two year period. Latterly John became a Director of Metro Consulting and Mouchel Rail where he was responsible for winning the JNUP Signal Installation contract (Value £52m GBP) which was the single largest contract Mouchel had ever had.  An exceptionally talented engineer and manager respected throughout the industry and able to operate easily at strategic level. John has been contributing his experience and expertise on Stockton assignments since 2014.
